Turkey Tricks

Well how was it for you?
Personally, I had a wonderful time and I hope you did too.
I know it's just a short pit stop on it's way to Hogmanay, but I thought I'd nip in here for a quick natter.

Have you had snow?
We've yet to see snow, even though my daughter has been thoroughly scruitinizing all of the weather apps and skies trying to find some... but so far we've only had minus temperatures, frosticles and lots of ice, for the last week or so.

One thing's for sure... Mufftypup is not impressed with frozen grass!
At the moment for her toilet break she nips out and back into the house in record time... like a whippet.
There's no need to stop to sniff when there's a comfy spot next to the fire waiting.

Besides it's a little tricky walking on the ice... imagine the scene from Bambi when he goes out onto the ice with Thumper and you get the idea. Not with the long limbs of course... more Stumper than Thumper!

Thinking about it Mufftypup has had quite a time of it really...
For a start it was agonizing waiting for Santa to call.
And don't get her started on all of the culinary delights that just didn't come her way...
even when she used her most cutest "oh woe is me" look with those pleading eyes.
There's also the mystery of the dodgy doorbell.
She's been disturbed from her chicken-filled dreams, so many times when the doorbell has rang. No one escapes her welcome no matter how snoozey she's is... she's a martyr to the cause!
But so many times, when she's ready to receive... sitting pretty staring at the door handle no-one enters, no matter how long she sits there patiently waiting. It's a complete mystery to her.
I don't quite know how to explain to her that it's a certain Christmas Carole that has a similar chime to our door bell...
But I'm thinking the exercise is good for her (right?) especially as she's not walking for as long these days and she's looking a wee bitee chunky (for her)...
Or maybe it's just her winter fluffyness?
Just in case she is putting on a little excess (hey aren't we all?) we've decided for her to have a daily workout. My daughter really makes her work for the turkey treats!
See what you think... after this routine she then does a few yoga stretches on the mat in front of the fire, before seriously meditating for a few hours...

So that'll just leave me to wish you all good luck and I hope you have healthy and happy New Year.
Thank you so much for being a part of my year... it's been great.
But I feel 2015 will be the best one yet!

HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY to me...McMufftypup!

Guest Blog Post...by McMufftypup
Today it's my birthday...can you believe it?
I'm 10 years old today...oops I wasn't going to divulge my age, but what the heck...it's out there now and hey...I think I look good for 10!
It's all down to good digs (or should I say place of residence)
It's taken me ten years to work the system to perfection, but I think I've got them all well trained and where I want them now...fresh chicken when I want it, the nearest spot by the wood burner, being carried to bed when the stairs just look too steep, walks at whatever pace I want to set...even slow and sniffy if I so choose, cuddles on demand and tummy rubs whenever I so choose.
Not bad eh?
Just call me 'Top Dog' ^..^

I decided to have a slow start today...waiting for my breakfast to be served.
I mean a birthday girl shouldn't have to wait for her birthday breakfast really, but then at least I had an extra cosy snuggle.

I took up the best advantage spot to survey the postie arriving. Now I don't wish to mislead you...I'm not one of those pooches that pounce on the postie.
No, I was waiting for the influx of cards and pressies that were sure to arrive.
It appears they may be in the afternoon post as nothings arrived yet.

So on to wishful thinking...maybe I'll get a birthday bone?
Or there maybe a surprise birthday outing...
Or will my toy be filled with my favourite gorgeous chicken...
Ohh yes...off we go!
I may even revisit that interesting patch in the garden...that I was so rudely interrupted from last time I was on the path of discovery!
I didn't mind that I'd only just been bathed and groomed.
A dog has to do what a dog has to do!
There may even be time for a few walks either in the lanes, woods or a garden mooch!
Ahh...it's certainly a dogs life.
I know I'll be in for masses of cuddles, tummy rubs and if I just give them that look...they'll melt and be under my spell.
I'll have a few wee snoozes no doubt during the day...well you have to make sure that you get your beauty sleep if you want to stay looking this good.

I'll also be remembering old friends and knowing that they remember me.
Zac still stops and waits by my old garden gate just in case I come out to play....
And although I have met new friends I'll never forget my Zac!

So a big high five to you all and on to the next birthday...bring it on I say?
Enjoy your day everyone, whatever you have planned make sure you have fun!

An Arctic Blast...and McMuffy isn't happy!

That's it winter has come to grab hold of us and by the feel of it, it means business and won't let go!
There's an arctic blast whipping through, which has reduced me to a fire magnet.
But I'm not the only one...McMufftypup isn't very impressed either ^..^
I know we shouldn't laugh, but that's exactly what we did do over the weekend.

Picture the scene...Muffy went out for her morning ablutions early on Sunday morning, only to stop dead in her tracks virtually as soon as she'd walked out of the door.
The grass had a white, crisp covering of frost, that came as a complete surprise shock to her.

For those of you that may not know McMuffy was born in Qatar, in the Middle East
(yep heat, deserts, virtually no rain and generally temperatures which can range from the mid 20's to 50+...Celsius that is!)
So when she arrived in Melbourne Australia, she had a little awakening to cooler weather with seasons for the first time. During the winter months it could be quite wet and cold...well to her standard it was cold).
But then her cruel owners whisked her away once again, to an even colder place...Scotland!
(If you'd like to read the tale of her journey from Qatar to Melbourne click here)

You can imagine the toilet break that frosty morning was the quickest on record.
She was like a greyhound out of the traps.
Immediately as I opened the door to let her come back in...she dashed past me and straight into her bed (which is next to the wood burner...see we're not that cruel)
Frantically, she tried to fluff up her blankets but then the penny must have dropped because she remembered she'd been sleeping at the bottom of my daughter's bed and that she'd been cosy there. So like a herd of elephant's she ran through the house and up the stairs.
I think if her legs had been a little longer, she'd have jumped up two at a time if she could have. Nah what am I thinking? She's a mini shuh-tzu for goodness sake!
She'd never manage that...bless...she's like me...vertically challenged!
After reaching my daughter room, she somehow managed to launch herself up unaided (which is a miracle in itself because she always gruffs and asks to be lifted because it's far too high for her (yeah right m'lady...you're busted now)
Without asking permission she burrowed under the sheets and didn't move for the next 45 minutes!
Here she is later emerging when she thought it was safe and warm enough.

 (Yawns...lip smacking...and where's my brekkie look?)

I haven't broken it to her yet, but she's booked into the groomers for next week! EEK!
I think she'll probably decide to hibernate after that!

She'll probably never forgive me, but she'll dry out far quicker if she's clipped.
We've got jumpers and jackets at the ready to ensure she doesn't freeze.
She's a little madame though and will milk it for all she's worth...shivering whenever anyone looks at her.
It seems chicken always helps to keep her warm!
I know it's a mystery to me too.

Stay cosy if winter has come to call...but if you're lucky and you're on your way to summer ~ ENJOY!
