Muffy's morning mishap!

Who knew when we headed off for our morning walk that we would have heart-stopping drama!

Back in January 2012 (Friday 13th to be precise) Muffin took her first swimming lesson, but who would have thought it would be three whole years before she entered the water once again.
Don't get me wrong she is bathed reguarly, groomed at the salon but not the fully immersing kind of bathtime.
Well today we participated in swimming lesson number two, but there's certainly no need for a third!
Let me tell you what happened...

She was having her usual fun... sniffing, splashing and generally surveying the whole park for fellow pups and play pals. On our way back to the car she still wanted to play and meet potential pals and spotted a sheep dog playing with it's ball.
Between you and me he wasn't interested in Muffy at all
(don't tell her but he was a little ball obsessive if you ask me)
but that didn't seem to register or deter Muffy.
As I called for her to follow me to the car... her off leish walk was over... she had other ideas.
She ran full pelt down the embankment with eyes latched onto the other pup.
Over the pathway and totally deaf to my calls.
The trouble was that the other dog was on the other side of the boating lake!
To my horror she then launched herself over the concrete low wall that edged the boating lake...
are you still with me...?
...yep you guessed it.
In she went... BADOOSH!!!
Not quite a swallow dive but it certainly was impressive.
She obviously thought it was solid ground and I'm still chuckling to myself when I think about what must have gone through her mind...
"WHAT THE ......????"
As I ran to her I thought to myself she'll never come back up...
(not if our first swimming lesson was anything to go by)
So I'm thinking I'm going in... willing to sacrificing my boots for sure.
(The lake isn't very deep but quite deep enough for a mini shuh tzu)
But amazingly as I came nearer... up she popped and she began to swim like an olympian!
Her coat plus her harness wasn't going to stop her.
I watched in wonder as she about turned and headed back towards me.
Paws paddling profusely
Who would have guessed?
After grabbing her and lifting her out looking like a soggy chamois leather, I couldn't help thinking (once I knew she was okay) that I'd have loved to have taken a little video of it all.
As you can see by her face above, she wouldn't have been impressed.
"Just get me dry and warm" ^..^
Once back home and dried off with a warm hairdryer (as you do) we couldn't let this momentus occasion go without a little pomp and ceremony, so she's been presented with her own swimming certificate!
If I'm honest she did qualify for all of the criteria... well all except the 15 metre swim, but if we consider the way out, turn around and then back towards the bank, it might well have been 15 metres.
Here's the certificate and Muffy having a much needed snoozlet, next to the fire after all that excitment.
If you haven't seen her first swimming attempt then here it is...
Note the back legs don't move!

Now you can see why I was so worried when she dived in...
I definitely thought... glug glug...glug!
I hope that's given you a giggle and that your day is going swimmingly (sorry I couldn't resist)

Sourdough, Spring and Sunshine

Helloooooooooo... is there anybody there?
I know I've been neglecting my blog which is not what I planned.
It seems Twitter, Instagram and Facebook have taken over my online time, they just seemed to sneak in and take over... but now I'm aware of that I'm going to do something about it.
The good news is that my laptop finally made it to A&E and should be ready by Saturday to come home... woohoo
The Geek Squad (and that's the real name for the guys looking at it) didn't seem to think it was that much of a problem. I thought I'd need a seat and at least a cuppa of strong tea to be told the bad news. Many of you might be thinking why on earth doesn't she just get a new laptop, but in my own defence... it's not going to cost a fraction of what I thought it would to get it fixed... but more to the point there is SO much junk, stuff crutial information stored on it, that I need it back to sort through everything and transfer it to a seperate hard drive at least.
So what's been happening?
Well the craft fair last weekend went really well.
It was a first for us but everyone made us feel so welcome.
All of the other store holders were lovely and helpful.
They nattered, exchanged experiences and expertise with the newies on the block which was very generous of them. They are like a little crafty community.
And gues what?
We were incredibly lucky to be next to the baker Vicky from 'The Little Sourdough Bakery'.
She bakes a range of speciality sourdough pastries & breads.  Yummy!!!
Of course we had to sample her products (and bring home lots) to check them all out.
The Blueberry and white Chocolate Sourdough Loaf was possibly my favourite.
But there were lots of wonderful goodies...
Here's a link if you want to start drooling The Little Sourdough Bakery

Before we entered the Bon Accord Centre on Sunday where the The Crafters Roadshow was to take place the church bells rang out. I adore church bells but I'm not so sure the seagulls perched nearby do. I hope you're noticing that glorious blue sky.
In fact we've been having fantastic weather over the last week or so.
The kind that I love during winter.
Crisp frosticles with glorious sunshine and clear blue sky.
Just perfect.
I've been posting photo's on instagram lately, so you may have noticed them or if not on instagram... I have the feed on my sidebar here on the blog, so that you don't miss them.
This photo was taken in a local park.
Duthie Park is a park of 44 acres which was donated to the city by Miss Duthie in 1880 and opened to the public in 1883. Mufftypup loves this park but then there are so many others in Aberdeen and fantastic dog walks it's difficult to choose a favourite.

But don't dispair if you need a little spring... it's taking a peek.
(in a whispered voice...) there's actually a little warmth to that sun.
Yep I kid you not... you just have to make sure that you are out of the wind if its blowing.
The birds are twitterbaiting (Bambi reference here) and sounding absolutely delighful plus there's little bulbs and shoots appearing everywhere.
I've even managed to dig a border during the earlier part of this week.
It's all looking good and certainly heading in the right direction with an extra hours daylight already.
I'm keeping a close eye on developments!
So that's it for today... I know there was lots to tell you, but I know you're busy and that's possibly the end of your coffee or cuppa break.
I must dash... but it's great to see you again and I hope that I won't be so long with the next post.
Have a great day

Happy Blue Monday...

How quickly did that last weekend fly by?
It's Monday already!
But don't be perturbed because it's a Happy Blue Monday
Although I'd like to catch up watching a 'Strictly' or an episode of the 'Great British Bake Off Masterclass' with Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood
(or as my hubby thinks just watching 'Loose Woman' all day)
I can't because there are major decisions to be made!
(Just before I move on, I'd like to clarify that I DON'T watch daytime TV EVER, well nearly never! ;D)
If this is your first time visiting me, then you won't be aware that although I never wanted to partake in a renovation job on our home (I've watched so many of those programme's and they nearly always go over budget, take forever and cause such stress, that I thought I could do without all of that going on in my life...there's enough ciaos already) but it appears that we're a living TV episode.
I'm just waiting for Kevin McCloud to appear on our driveway.

Our first major job is renovating the master bathroom.
With all the noise, comings and goings, boots thundering overhead etc I decided to give Muffy a break. She is being desensitized to loud bangs and drills (not even flinching when our neighbour had fireworks on Saturday) but sometimes you just need to get out and have some peace.
So we scooted to the tile shop (more decisions to made) then we stopped off in Duthie Park.
(Duthie Park is a park of 44 acres which was donated to the city by Miss Duthie in 1880 and opened to the public in 1883...I'll be writing a post about the park at a later date).
It's a great meeting place plus you can grab a coffee and the dogs can walk around the whole park off the lead (leash).
As we walked around look what I spotted...Blue Monday just came to mind as soon as I saw the Boat Lake.

I couldn't have asked for more...having this chap playing with his model boat.
It was freezing and I for one wouldn't be messing about with boats on a lake when the North Wind Doth Blow...but he seemed to be thrilled.

I'm off to look at more bathrooms, tiles and windows now, but I did manage to add some music to the video clip that I mentioned last Blue Monday.
So if you're feeling in a little stress...take a deep breath and relax.

Happy Blue Monday to you all.
Don't forget to pop across to see more of the Blue Monday Gang
